Estrogen…we all know what it is but….

Why does estrogen matter?

Estrogen is the major female sex hormone that promotes and maintains the development of female characteristics. It is a very complex hormone that actually functions hand in hand with gut. The gut microbiome is influenced by estrogen itself and can also have a direct impact on estrogen levels. Improper estrogen balance is associated with many disease states and cancer.

Are you suffering from…..

  • Constipation
  • Diarrhea
  • Indigestion
  • Bloating
  • Irregular periods/heavy periods
  • Weight Gain
  • Acne
  • Dry skin
  • Puffy/ water retention

…your estrogen levels may be out of whack! CorePerform can help to balance your hormones and optimize gut health!

Estrogen and your gut

The gut-microbiome secretes an enzyme called beta-glucuronidase that deconjugates estrogen and enables it to bind to estrogen receptors. Poor gut health leads to an altered estrobolome, a community of microbes able to metabolize estrogens. This imbalance of too much or too little estrogen production due to poor gut health is associated with a plethora of diseases such as PCOS, obesity, breast cancer, and more.

Let’s break it down

  • Bile-acid secreted estrogen is deconjugated by the estrobolome.
  • Metabolized estrogen is reabsorbed by the gut and goes into the bloodstream.
  • Through the bloodstream, it is transported to distal mucosal sites.
  • Estrogen acts on estrogen receptors at these distal sites (ex. Vaginal Epithelia).
  • Activated receptors cause downstream physiological effects such as gene activation or cascade signaling.

 Effects of dysbiosis

  • Dysbiosis disrupts homeostasis through a reduction of bacterial diversity which results in inflammation.
  • Creates a metabolic profile that is detrimental to gut epithelial health
  • Reduces cell-cell junctions leading to increased permeability and bacterial translocation
  • Bacterial translocation leads to altered estrogen levels and puts you at risk for disease

Diseases associated with altered estrogen levels due to poor gut health

….all could lead to infertility and increase of cancer

  1. Endometriosis
  2. PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome)
  3. Endometrial Hyperplasia

If you and your friends are in any way musically inclined (and the baseline of what I mean by “musically inclined” is “can keep a tune with a kazoo”), you can play music together long-distance! I was Skyping with my brother who lives in Michigan the other day, and we both happened to be holding our guitars as we turned on the Skype screen. What happened next? We picked a key (the key of D seemed to work) and he started jamming out some rhythm guitar with his acoustic, and I soloed on my electric guitar over him. We played everything from Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours” to “The General” by Dispatch. Video shows a momma bear in Yellowstone National Park at wits end with her misbehaving cub as it plays a game of “Catch me if you can.” After some initial training, the game assigns you a position, either a member of the Justice League or The Society, depending on your choice of hero or villain. Unlike other MMOs on this list and outside it, DC Universe Online is meant to be much more interactive while also keeping traditional MMORPG elements such as leveling, raiding, inventories and post-game progression. It’s also easy using real-world currency too, which is why it has our best free games vote.
