What’s wrong with this picture

I saw this picture the other day and literally laughed out loud. Does anyone get the joke here?  There is no way this woman’s body was made on the treadmill. She obviously lifts a lot of weights to build her strength, so the fact that she is on a treadmill and the words CARDIO are bolded in the center is pretty funny.

I’m not sure if this was intended to be funny or inspiring to do cardio. You should incorporate cardio into your routine for heart health and other cardiovascular benefits, but if you’re doing cardio to look like this woman? Well, good luck.

The image conjures, first and foremost, an image of health. The slightness of the text says to me that it’s the image you see first, then the text. So you see the health woman, then associate that with cardio. Don’t get me wrong, it’s utterly misleading, but at the same time, when the general populace think healthy or fit, they normally think of a particular body type. Also, this was probably drawn up by some suit in a closet somewhere who has never actually been in a gym or put on sneakers for any real exercise…

I’m no expert, but from all of my bodybuilder friends… To build this kind of muscle, most of them don’t do much cardio. I personally love it… But the model in the photo might not convey the message as well as another might have.

Some people think that cardio interferes with strength and size. I agree with your readers that the picture is showing the relevance that cardio can play in an overall athletic physique. I also agree with you that it is a funny way to convey the message.

I think it may interfere with strength and size when you’re not supplementing additional calories to make up for what you’ve lost. It’s also stressing the body and taking away from recovery time if you do them in excess. Thanks for commenting and seeing both sides!

Those might be squat legs, but I bet her stamina is all cardio. I see the humor, but I see the inspiration and motivation more! 🙂

I think the picture is emphasizing that, cardio is important for everyone. No matter, whether you are muscular or not. It is good thing everyone feels heart and lungs are also important part of healthy body..
