Drink your BCAAs!

YAY! Today I got another shipment of BCAAs and thank the lord because I drink this almost every day. When I first started working out I would be so sore and it could last for days. Whether or not I stretched, the soreness was impairing my everyday life and I got so sick of it!

BCAAs or branched-chain amino acids refers to three amino acids: Leucine, Isoleucine, and Valine. All animal products, such as meat and eggs, already contain these proteins. However, BCAA supplements are in free-form, so they require no digestion and can be readily absorbed into the bloodstream.

There are two categories of people who should consider drinking BCAAs: those who are gaining mass, and those trying to preserve muscle mass on a low calorie diet.

BCAAs have been shown to:

  • stimulate the rate of protein synthesis
  • increase cell’s capacity for protein synthesis
  • reduce the rate of protein breakdown
  • produce a harder, longer workout by reducing the amount of tryptophan entering the brain, thus reducing the amount of serotonin

Consider investing in some BCAAs to help with your gains and recovery! I drink mine intra-workout to keep me hydrated and reduce protein breakdown before I get to my post workout meal. Some prefer to take this after they workout or simply for a sweet treat to stay hydrated throughout the day! Yum!

    So you reckon these are the way to go in terms of supplements? I’ll pick some up – great read!

    In terms of volume, how much do you use? Does a tub of it last a decent amount of time? I’m just thinking about the total cost of things right now, and – though ti’s worth it, no doubt – I really need to consider where my money is best spent and pick my battles, so to speak.

      These are definitely rated among the best, and I do half a scoop but some do the full scoop. Depending on how much you use it’ll last you a month or two.

    So you drink it while you are working out as opposed to before and after? I just posted about finding myself plateauing…I would love to get your feedback to get over this hump! Thanks for sharing this info!

      Just read through your post and you should definitely give this a try! It could help you push harder or longer through your workouts and will definitely help with the soreness! I recommend alpha amino by cellucor in watermelon!

      It’s so good haha! PS I do 1 scoop and fill up about 18-20 oz in my shaker because it’s so sweet, but it lasts me my whole workout. Let me know the results you get with it!

    I have to admit that I’m “that guy” who doesn’t take supplements, however I think BCAAs might deserve a shot. Not to mention I also didn’t know the other benefits of them, I mean if you bump up protein synthesis that means I’ll be like 40 lbs. thicker right?? haha but really though this is a great read!
