3 ways to burn more at the gym

Everyone wants to have the most effective workout they can. If you’re main goal is body fat reduction try some of these exercise alternatives to burn more!


1. Perform exercises standing versus sitting or lying down: You are bound to use more muscle and pump up the intensity when you perform your exercise standing vs. sitting.
Ex. Standing Cable Rows vs. Seated Machine Rows


2. Destabilize your body and use muscles for a longer period of time: Destabilizing your body means using more muscles when you work out. As your body tries to find balance it will ignite any and all parts of the body needed to do so. Using your muscles for a longer period of time will exhaust them more and ensure you’re pushing them to their capacity.
Ex. Single-Leg Dumbbell Shoulder Press vs. Seated Machine Shoulder Press


3. Minimize rest periods: Circuit training and high intensity interval training (HIIT) are great ways to minimize rest periods to push yourself further and burn more. Alternate between periods of extreme bursts of energy with short periods of rest to get your body burning fat for energy.

    Very true! I mean I think all of us experience the tired feeling more during squats than during bench press! I also think rest intervals and intensity is key. I see a lot of people just pull weight with little resistance.
